stands and half turns to Donovan

With respect to shooting down surrenedered vessals, I do not think we are anywhere near that point. The nice thing about space is that its realy quite big, if we are found, we move, even if we have to skulk around the outside of the system for a month or two as we atemept to locate the jump point I think we can make it quite hard for them, and whilst we are NOT blowing them up we stand a better chance of comeing to peacefull relations with them. Its risky but I would surgest a mission to the rendevus point that we went to talk to them last time.. a single ship perhapse not even a TSN ship as I will explain in a moment. peace is preferable to pew pew.

We have a Hijordan task force with us.. that is both a benifit and a curse.. in the event we have to return the long way around unless we are willing to leave our allies.. Its going to take not years at warp speed but the best part of a decade at high impulse. The Hijordan do not have warp drive for one very simple reason however…. The Hijordan have stealth technology that is significantly ahead of our own … ever wonder why we only see cruisers? It comes at a draw back however – No Denabite fule containment fields, meaning no warp drive. I am sure they will be willing to help us improve the steathyness of our ships and shipyard, its posible that one of the cruisers has a full stealth suite onboard as well and that could be very handy for getting to hard to reach places. Its a shame the full on cloakning device also precludes gate travel.. a Hijordan Super Dreadnaught squadron is something to be very very afraid of even if your a TSN Battle Division! but I digress..

With reguards to finding the location of the jump point unless we happen to stumble apon a quantom signature we are going to have to take many readings at many locations to piece togeather the topography of the area and narrow down the likely locations. Probes will help here but they need to be launched a ways from our base or they will to easily be tracked back to us.

Donovan I agree whole heartedly with your sentiment on ration reduction, we should take steps towards it yes, but I feel the moral not to mention the reduction in the physical ability of crew that will result from going all the way to survival levels is too great, at least until we have exhausted the imediate posibilitys. I would say we start rationing at full rations imediatly with Luxury items at the descretion of the CO and CMO (I have heard that Dr Hosman has survived … so dont think sick call is going to be an easy option!).

Of more imediat concern.. I think we should re-locate any surviving Sensor bouys, and if posible find a way to move the gate some where secure.. we are going to need it and if the Remains try disasemble or open fire on it… the consquinces are going to be serious for us.

    consults his tablet….

thats all my prepared comments. thank you.

is the TSN Aura able to comunitate with the party and the partys Electronics?

    AR: Average DR:Above Average Roll:13 Result:Yes

Captain Evans to away party, TSN Aura is standing by to assist with data cross link to our main computer at this time. Please note that the deeper you go the less usefull this link will likely become. The Oposeing force is not currently jamming us however.

//so if you check for signal strength at each interation point with electronics with the dificulty incressing each time you can use my skill rateings for encryption, programing etc. If I havnet responded for a bit.

am I familure enough with this design of instulation to surgest a route form the other side of the door?

AR:High DR: Above Average Roll:18 Result: Yes

We’ve been reviewing your sensor data, the installation appears to be followng some standard plans, past the door ahead you should find a T Corridor, the left will take you to a storage area with a mantiance tube leading towards the inner core – its likely to be booby traped. The right will take you to a small security station where you should find a terminal and access to the facilitys Outer Core.

Ok so there is attualy a fair bit already known about the Na’tari from the first time we met them:

They are Bio engineers of the unparreleld ability – they litiraly grow there ships, and the ships computer is a brain – they make living ships.

They are not Nomadic by choice, a mistake was made when designing there newest superdreadnaught class ship and the “Brain” of the ship is almost ineveriably Homicidle we know this class of ship as the “Space Monster” they took over there home system killing and destroying everything. Due to the nature of the “shipyards” to this day more are beeing created so long as the monsters harvest enough raw material to make the next generation fortunetly the population growth is linera not exponential.

Becuase they are the Creators of the space monster they are the only race that has the ability to neutralize or kill a space monster. though the Skarens have found a way to handle them.

They are currently refugees in the Promethean and imediat systems surronding Promethean, however tensions are high between them and the inhabitants. the USFP have agreed to lend aid in locating and setting up a new homeworld – hence why we are in Euphine.

Finaly from there early comunications with us they belive the TSN in general have “Smelly Feet”.

Thats the current state of the critical cannon points we have hit. no mention I belive has been made as to social structures or physical apperance.

Just wanted to thow in a few devices that have been mentioned in previous missions.

    Quantom Entangled Comms Unit
A rare and one time use device that can send up to 2 charectors instintantiously across any distance to the pair of the unit. Typicaly found on command posts in order to send disaster level comunucations to Core Systems. Most of command bases in the 2nd Fleet area are paired with devices held at Port Arthur the nearest Core System. They are typicaly held in the command center embeded into the desk of the Senior System Officer. Due to the limited bandwidth and one time use nature of the device a complex encodeing system is used. The Tech level of such devices is relitivly low so most species have a similer device, they are however energy intensive to make. There is no known method of blocking or jamming such a transmision, nor intercepting it. The device is man portable but not usable unless connected to a station level reactor to power it.

    Hey all Two Questions

One whitch of the two planets is this? (sector wise)

and can I thorow in an objective of my own to look for signs of any specices above 0.7 on the Standard sentiance scale to see if the Na’tari might be permited to terraform the planet? (we have two so if we have to we can power game it in the main arc 😛 )

Yep, working on a few fixes at the moment.. im not sure if its been finalised that the ships we are going to be using here out for a while will be as such, one reason we havent updated since christmas.

the only issue is it massivly complicates the GM job having to encode everything.

Caltrons are very much new.. as such we dont know that much about them.

the official information is as follows,

They come from another gallelxy, they have been linked to an artifact that is several million years older then the terran sun. they are totaly artificical in nature – no biological mind is behind them. they get smarter the more of them are in a sector, small groups are dumb, larger groups will start using some rudimentry tactics. The TSN have made some advances in scrambling the Caltrons targeting system – either causing the caltron to single out a target or to lose all intrest in engaging targets.

Caltrons Will be expanded on over the next year, we are working towards a full season that will concentrate on the whos whats and ifs. the mission a few weeks ago was aimed at a little exposition, testing the current balance of them and setting up some posible levels of support we might get from our frenemys. (we didnt do too good on that frount, we are a pretty bloodthirsty lot it seems! still we didnt bust out compleatly and theres some intresting plot points that may come out of this *waves @Matsiyan*

anyway back on point… Speculation I like.. keep things fairly vagu though becuase if im totaly honest we havent settled on a course yet with them and its posible even some of the officail TSN Scientitsts are talking out of there airlocks.

Blaze, you are a good officer, I like you, still do after reading that. But I will point out that perhapse you need to take a few steps back .. walk around and look at a few other angles as well. let me go through and hit a few of the points you have raised…

Do we punish van Leigh for all he’s been doing? The repeated changing of names of all officers on TSN Phoenix, the friendly fire on simulations, and other general annoyances.

so you have noticed the Phoenix is a much more non RP ship, you know what aside from when it starts messing up other ships deliberiatly. thats fine all those people changing names… well they all did it… that kind of indicates they are all in on it.. and well thats by design. if there are no complaints from the ship, and no reasonable complaints about the ship hurting the RP of others then I see no issue. the deliberate FF thing? unless there has been a more recent issue Mr Leigh made a public appolige about it to the group and thats that.

and by reasonalbe I mean can you really see a name tag through two ship hulls and 1000’s of units of space? im not about to let that worry me.

Do we punish Slate for never stating her rank?

No, considering the numorus F’ups that happen every rollcall besides at this point. besides you can RP around that nooooooooo problem. (shes under orders, its tradition)

Do we punish Allard for behaving the way he does? Performing Allard manouvers, picking up mines and endagering the crew, ignoring DO’s instructions.

There are more facets to this particular issue then is widely known. All I will say is that he was the XO of Horizon, a position he more then earned at the time. this is not likely to change in the med term.

Do we require from every Commander to be reevaluated after taking a long break?

Yes Tour was a CO, hes acting as an XO to get up to speed – we hope. we have also been considering a number of options around this – you may of noticed a few people with differnt colours behind the rank insgnia from time to time. we havent decided on a system as of yet. and indeed what it will mean. nobody is getting demoted with out cause and lets face it. a situation where a hypathetical senior officer is premoted past the point of compitance? that happens allll the time in the real world. I dont see why we should not have our own share.

Also, if a senior officer doesn’t feel like being CO or XO for a particular shift, that person can always RP as another character of a lower rank.

Yes they can, and yes they do, they also as any good CO or XO do is step back and evaluate lower ranks and give them a chance to show there own guises and issues give them a chance to grow. has this been happening a lot over the last few mounths? you bet theres CO and XO slots that have been opening for a while. I didnt just decide to leave as the Horizons CO overnight my intentions where layed out before we even hit December. and I am fairly sure we aint done with the changes yet.

    ———————

The past is a strange place, there once was a group that split from the TSN. ths split was on idelogical ground and basicly was RP over “beating artemis”. the group that split away “Beat” the game pretty much over the couse of the year and disbanded. Artemis is not too hard a game. the TSN is still here becuase we RP, becuase we impose limitations on what we will and will not allow, and due to its wide appeal.

the Intel department make missions and campaignes to be played and enjoyed by a wide audiance, if that audiance becomes too small the joy of creation and shareing that powers it will drain away – or at least will for me, im not spending 2 – 20 hours a week on making a one shot mission for 5 or even 10 peeps. The artemis community is not big nuff for us to be too picky about the people we play with. I think in the whole histroy of the TSN we have kicked out about 3 people. and one was becuase he was DDoSing the server.

I will end this with a quick note.. I am not well right now. I am up late and I might regret a few of the things I have put in here – or worded them more harshly then I intended. hell theres a part of me saying I should not post here at all.. still I have and am. and I genuinly hope to see every person in this thread and mentioned in this thread next shift when im hopefuly not trying to cough my lungs up.

humm well we comfortably ran 4 ships last night but it was the first shift back after the christmas break so its hard to say I think we toped out around 28, I think we need to go on a recruiting spree though!

    Hello Feil!

Lets see.. Fighters are a bit up in the air at the moment with 2.5.1 theres been some changes with them, better interface. etc so I think the TSN may look at them again soon – we ran a game with a pair of fixed stations that we set up to launch fighters last weekend and in any event we have been using them as “Shuttles” for RP purposes.

We are currently exploring the Euphine Expanse again which is going well so far. I have just steped down as CO of the Horizon and I think its likely to prompted a resuffle of personal – we are about due anyway.

um thats all I can think of off the top of my head.

I have updated the mod now. we will be testing two versions of the mod on new years eve one with fighters one with out, to see if one or the other is more stable, the files can be found in the usual place, we will be using 2.5.101 from the next official shift (Jan 7th) with what ever version of the Mod we find works best.

    Artemis Version 2.5.101
    Mod Version 1.6.3 RCA
