His head buried in a pad full of Hegemoney comms traffic he had to analyse, Garion has been wandering through the station, he needed a break from staring at the blank piece of wall in front of his desk. The problem with living on a space station is the lack of space, everyone is crammed in like sardines. As he came round the corner before the bar he stopped and saw a Hjorden officer walking away angrily leaving Commander Tuor. He allowed intrigue to wash over him for a moment but soon refocused on the task at hand.

On a whim, Garion decided the bar was a good idea, perhaps a couple of drinks would loosen his mind to solving his current problem. He soon shut off the notion of an alcoholic drink, he was on duty.

As he walked in he nodded to Tuor and offered a smile, he had a tough job, and wasn’t going to make many friends but someone had to do it. He heard Donovan call out and chuckled, it had taken him a while to get used to not calling people by ranks in the bar. Unless they’re an Admiral, another lesson he had not learnt immediately.

“What can I get you” Damian’s voice brought him back to the real world.

“I’m still on duty, just some of that fizzy stuff you serve to the on-duty shuttle pilot.”

    “Coming up!”

After a few moments the drink was placed in front of him he picked it up and scanned the room. He noticed Donovon alone at a table and walked over. He could do with a break from the work, and was due an official break on his duty shift.

“Mind if I join you? I could to with a break from this” he said waving the pad.

Garion listened to each officer’s suggestions, each brought a different perspective and suggestion, filling him with optimism that the division would defeat this new foe.

    He looked to Xiph,
I think a simulation is a great idea, Sir, perhaps we can combine it with some of the tactics that have been suggested here. Lieutenant Commander Sketch raises an interesting point, he can’t shoot down our torpedos or mines and with Lieutenant Yooey’s EMP, and teleback cool down options we have the start of a good plan. With the likelihood of a ship being tractored, unless we can disrupt it, I am nervous at the prospect of using heavy ordnance. However, it may become necessary.

We can simulate Mezzomorto on our systems, we have enough data to get a good approximation of his ship. I suggest we use the simulation to try the ideas that have been suggested. I’ll also suggest that if they wish to, the officer that has suggested the plan would take tactical command during the simulation. Assuming the division commander is happy with that.

    – Lieutenant Commander Sketch’s coordinated EMP, PShock, Beams attack
    – Lieutenant Yooey’s teleback suggestion and potentially use of cluster mines.

In the meantime, I will ask the appropriate departments to investigate whether we can use a tag to disrupt the systems on the Crooked Star, the TSN does have some electronic warfare options available. I’ll also ask the engineers with a specialism in jump drives whether Commander Tuors suggestion of continual EMPs will impact his jump capability.

Studying the map, plans were formulating in Garion’s mind, he considered several options as he waited for the Fleet Captain to finish his introduction.

Sir, I feel we need to weigh several things here. First, not attacking in any logical pattern, the Hegemony may try to predict our next target once they realize we are doing hit and run tactics.
Second, the more we attack the more evidence they have to point them to our base of operations.
Thirdly, I would suggest starting our attacks at the farthest points from Onwia gate in Drenan, as the more we attack the more heavily defended Drenan is likely to become, if we leave the closer targets until later, we have less distance to traverse as we ingress and egress the AO. We would have to be careful not to make that into a logical pattern they could predict, however.
Thus my suggestion would be, begin with Sector five.

Garion realized he had in essence taken the floor and not yielded it for a while so did not continue the plan that had formed in his mind, he looked around the room to gauge reaction.

Garion raised his eyes at the Mr Pierce’s suggestion, he had not looked at sector 9 enough, zooming in on his pad he noted the extensive nebula and asteroid field, it was paticulaly handy that the nebula extended into sector 6.

I have to agree with Mr Pierce, sector 9 seems to be a good choice, it’s also closer and has less risky routes to all stations apart from the base in Sector 1.

    Here it is, Sir.

Garion used his pad to send the map to everyone in attendence.

We need to be in an asteroid field as that is going to server as the anchor for our base modules.

//Agreed with the command in control deck being on the flag ship.

Maybe if the flag ship gets destroyed, command and control will go as well.

    Thanks @Expree
The server I got was not up to scratch so I am cancelling that one.

I am looking for an alternative though – what company do you use?

@admin – incredible series of books! I love the fleet conferences… especially the delay thing (I know we won’t have delay)

Agree with Aramond – it’s a time thing. Can we get this done in time.

But love the idea, etiquette I would say follow protocol. Have it like a committee where someone is chairing the meeting (does not have to be highest rank). And each atendee has actions they need to report back on at the next meeting.

    So the next issue…

Direct3D does not work over RDP.

Okay, fair enough. So i’ll try Teamviewer.

Team viewer does not work unless logged into RDP…

How do you guys run it?

Having grown up in a military family I have seen this sort of thing a bit.

I would say it is similar between the Air Force and the Army,

The Army see the air force as “fly boys” who don’t like to crease there uniform and drink cups of tea all day whilst they do all the hard work running on the field and shooting at things.
The Air Force see the Army as grunts, just people who follow orders and know how to shoot things.

It will be similar between the Marines and the Navy. The marines will see us as pussies.

Generally the Navy/Air Force would be on a higher salary than the Marines/Army

have a look at that link and plot out what you think the Command Structure would look like. A visual aid will help.
The “Officer of the Watch” is whoever has the bridge, so if you leave the bridge you would say the Gebbens, “Your have the brigde” he is now in command and has the authorization of a commander.
So who ever is in command in ops, regardless of rank will have have authorisation to launch the QRF.
