    as far as I know there is no downside to giving rear shields to a station, if is my expected issue would be a crash at spawn time for the station, this is easily tested & probably should be done if implemented

    EDIT – further thought imples that rear shields are likely harmless – artemis can spawn in id 0 ships as bases in deep strikes with seemingly no harmful effects

    I hope to arrive by early (friday) afternoon. The browser on my phone was somewhat unreliable with mobile data last year so may need to co-ordinate on discord. I’m also not that sure of the NEC layout but remember it was very busy and hard to find seats last year. Hope to see you tomorrow.

    I hope to be there friday afternoon and evening, and possibly some of saturday, if people want to meet away from the NEC I guess evening is better (so as not to miss parts of UKGE). I would be more likley to be able to join in if it is at the NEC or within walking distance but would hope to come along wherever people meet.

    is the project you are thinking of empty epsilon? I am unsure of the current status of it – the online presence seems either idle or dead, but I know people used to do stuff with it – if nothing else it may be a foundation for something.

    I am unsure what would be planned but am happy to consider helping on programming projects.

    I am still struggling with the intent of the changes, both in ship classes and in energy consumption. This has made it very hard to suggest exact changes which would match both/either goals.

    Depending on the design goals there are a bunch of potential soultions with scripting, I am still unclear if this is even an acceptable soultions as it potentially causes issues for GM’s & whoever has to maintain the script(s). I personally believe that there are solutions that would work, but it heavily depends on the design goals.

    Personally I disagree with the ares being made closer to the artemis class as they already overlap substantally (I think more than any 2 other ships in the fleet). I think there being variety between the ships is a plus.

    If the ares class balance is taken as the main/only problem I too am struggling to see many solutions other than the broadside idea as all other solutions seem to be ruled out as infringing on other ships roles too much.
    If it is seen as a more generic problem with balance (be that energy/ship design) then I think reviewing scripting options with the question “what is the intention of this balance” being the first question asked would be a good starting location.
