OPERATIONAL DEBRIEFING FOLLOWS….

While Hjorden security performed an additional sweep of an adjacent sector, 4LD conducted simulations to maintain operational readiness for traditional combat roles and to ensure all shipboard systems remain unaffected by the new environment in the Arcturus system. The Hjorden commander, Patrach-Kal, requested 4LD assistance when she received a distress call. The Hjorden battlegroup was discovered in lifepods in a nebula and with cosmozoa approaching after the Hjorden beacons had expired. The division’s capital vessels suffered significant systems damage from cascading power surges in proximity to the nebula. The effect seemed to require a critical mass to achieve its deleterious positive feedback loop, Shuttlecraft were able to approach and effect extraction of the life capsules along with the black box of one of the Hjorden ships. 4LD followed up with more simulations of search and rescue missions under hostile conditions.

CURRENT DIVISION INTELLIGENCE:
High levels of cosmozoa will require frequent deployment of beacons during patrols and/or culling of local populations to safe levels.
The Hjorden crew reported fleeting high energy density sensor contacts appearing unexpectedly at close range. The black box may be able to shed more light on the phenomenon which could relate to the unknown contact in the previous shift. Unknown starship drive signature represents potential First Contact situation with alien intelligences.

MISSION PLANNING:
Sectors adjacent to the base camp need to be scouted. Science teams will require additional sensor and sample data from any additional new types of nebulae. Nebulae in Arcturus seem to be of significantly higher interactivity than those in typical systems around Promethean and should be approached with caution. Security for science teams and diplomatic encounters will need to be tight, effective and carefully measured. Over- or under-reaction could be fatal this far from support and could create long-lasting issues for the USFP.
Continued supply missions from Hjorden and security escort replacements have been requested.

TACTICAL RECOMMENDATIONS:
Systems maintenance and endurance are of primary importance. All care should be taken to minimize damage to any system.
Xenology and Astrogation from first principles should be revised.
Rapid execution of fleet orders should be practiced to ensure windows of tactical opportunity are not lost and that disengagement can be executed on a hair-trigger.
4LD is relying on supply ships to re-arm ordnance and supplies. To allow the replicator systems to prioritize production of materiel necessary to secure and maintain our presence in this region, care should be taken to conserve reusable resources as much as possible. Recovery of biologic beacons for recharge and reprogramming should be performed whenever possible.
