In case it is not clear, I volunteer to lead that away mission, or at least go along as a support technician.

The planet we investigated during yesterday’s mission needs significant exploration and data collection. I recommend an extended away mission to its beach to begin the effort.

@xavier, No problem saying my rank hereafter. No problem with any RP solution. Even willing to RP a public apology, full demote to Cadet. Whatever makes people happy. Really, I had no idea people were upset.

I’m sorry, Blaze, that just made me laugh - “I’ve heard that you do it because you’re a high ranking officer in another group, and that you despise being a low/mid ranking officer with the rest of us.”
Rank elsewhere is irrelevant here. The speaker has either never talked with me about ranks, or somehow never grasped that I’m quite content at…[Read more]

@xavier “Why is it that Slate doesn’t state her rank at the beginning of a shift?”
Slate doesn’t state her rank because…
Where you sit in a room matters. Take any general mixed company meeting of about 30 people:
There are “movers and shakers”, the ones in charge, who sit at the head of the table, the front row - the place of power and i…[Read more]

I return for the people and friendships. Each ship in the TSN has its own flavor, from music selection to how the crew responds to orders. Is it humorous? Is it serious? Does its crew discuss ship and fleet tactics and mission objectives? Does its crew follow full TSN protocols?
I’m happy with the crew of the Phoenix. We have master-level…[Read more]

*Slate’s eyes flick to her data pad.*
No message on mine.
*She rubs her chin distractedly.*
I modified its operating system when I first got it. I was trying for more speed. I bet that auth-check I added blocked the message. I wasn’t even thinking about it when I did it; I was distracted cutting down some of the data sizes to match the read…[Read more]

Yes, enough time for me to see it, ponder it, dig out my data pad, get the photo, and… well, then we were under attack again, so I missed whatever happened after that.

*To Quinn:*
That maneuver wasn’t an accident either. The Lancer was *parked* there.
Timing is a crucial thing - you can kill a tightrope walker by changing music tempo. Ship systems are interdependent and rely on accurate timing.

Confirming that we had a problem at all is a horrible idea, even after it’s fixed. If they didn’t cause it, they might think now is the time to attack. If they did cause it, they will know how long it took us to perform repairs. Also, I prefer them to wonder if they were so inept that we didn’t even notice their attack, or if the person(s) who…[Read more]
