    OPERATIONAL DEBRIEFING FOLLOWS….
4LD were invited to the Euphini Expanse by our N’tani allies to participate in a wargames training exercise. At the same time, 4LD were providing post-deployment technical support for the recently deployed defense grid which reacts more quickly to intrusions such as the Kralien slingshot technology.

In the wargames, the superior warp technology and power management of the TSN vessels brought the expected success despite the eclectic exotech gathered by the N’tani in their wanderings.

Cloaked Skaraans were discovered interfering with the Defense Grid. They were hunted down and eliminated. Kraliens fleets attempted to exploit the vulnerability but were defeated by 4LD patrols before they could mass a large force.

    …OPERATIONAL DEBRIEFING ENDS

    CURRENT FLEET INTELLIGENCE:

The Skaraan exploit of the defence grid vulnerability is not fully understood. The attack was some form of malware code which was of course purged, but it seems to be a new programming innovation which may be able to keep up with our security firmware. The division needs to remain on deployment in Euphini until it is closed. Assume Kraliens will continue to exploit the vulnerability to attack N’tani and Zolmari assets. Furthermore, keep your consoles up to date and report any EWAR or CW attacks to the tech teams on staff with the Division as soon as systems recover. It is paramount to fleet operations to ensure that blanket crashes do not end up placing the Division in a tactically unsound position.

    MISSION PLANNING:

It is vital that an appropriate Skaraan be intercepted and the exploit retrieved from a black box or by marine extraction team. An unexecuted code sample will be needed for the techs to keep up in a potential arms race, as the code sample from the sensor relay seems to have intentionally corrupted itself heavily to avoid decryption.

It is also possible that the Kraliens will take advantage of the threat to Euphini tying down our forces to strike into Promethean or Atlantis. ISS forces have been redirected to bolster the front while we are away but it is possible rapid-response will be necessary.

    TACTICAL RECOMMENDATIONS:

TSN Viper’s unusual loss from the active roster means the fleet will be down some heavy brawling capability. ONI recommends pairing up more tightly and focusing fire efficiently to down targets when proceeding to close range. While Sabre and Lancer’s beam firepower is formidable, Horizon’s strength is heavy ordnance and ranged engagement. The frigate using callsign Excalibur is well equipped for light ordnance and drone cover and should work in combination with a heavier beam ship. Both of the latter can continue to engage from outside beam range. Efficient use of EMPs can achieve the same results to shield strength as a much longer and more costly use of beams or torpedoes.

Officers should be aware that some Kralien ships have been seen to declare as Zolmari at unexpected times, including when surrounded by non-Zolmari. All reasonable efforts should be made to ensure that they are able to escape safely, once they have made themselves known.

Keep the Section Blue frigate assigned as close support until the problems with her power generation are resolved. Suggest refocusing her long-range emitters to enable at least measurable damage to a capital ship even at the cost of lateral coverage.
