    OPERATIONAL DEBRIEFING FOLLOWS….

Operations this shift proceeded rather smoothly at first. With fresh, extended-capacity Denabite energy cores the fleet successfully delivered relief aid materials to Cerberus II without incident. Said materials are being put to use at once.

Using Slate’s translation of the intercepted Kralien message, we had determined that an object or clue of importance was to be traced to the space whale preserve in Atlantis system. We weren’t the only ones with such an idea. It seems that the USF had picked up intel off of our smouldering wrecks of bases in Cerberus III and had sent a task force to comb the area. Both of us ended up empty-handed for our efforts. It was around this time that a torpedo loader malfunction and haywire secondary systems slightly inconvenienced TSN Horizon.

Shortly after following this red herring to its conclusion Zolmar’s Faction provided us with a proper translation of the message and clues as to the location of the object we were looking for. The search led the Division all across the hostile half of Cronus system. Along the way the price for this information, the facilitation of Zolmar’s agents to commandeer a number of Kralien vessels for use against the Order was paid. A Skaraan outpost was found in Sector XI and summarily removed, though it held nothing of extraordinary value aboard.

Eventually the search was narrowed to sector VI. Something jammed the fleet’s sensors upon entry and a large force of Kraliens was also present in the area. While other ships were contending with the hostile forces, TSN Raven conducted a sweep of the zone which was later confirmed to contain the object. Shuttlecraft Proteus conducted a deep-penetration scan of the asteroids in the zone and located the object.

Shortly after returning the object to the TSN Raven a number of system failures began to emerge on the ship, ultimately leading to a core meltdown. TSN Raven was lost although most officers and enlisted personnel had time to vacate to life pods or shuttles before detonation. The object had been handed off to Intelligence Staff aboard the Raven before the cascade failures occurred. One of the DAMCON personnel was able to isolate the unknown object in a rad-suppression containment unit, and Crewman Jetson had the foresight to bring it with him into the escape pod.

    OPERATIONAL DEBRIEFING ENDS….

    CURRENT FLEET INTELLIGENCE:
Zolmar’s agents successfully seized 3 Dreadnoughts, 2 Battleships, 7 Cruisers. These ships are being slipped back into Order space to gather intelligence and sow further dissent.

The unknown object is decisively of alien origin. Its structural profile does not match Kralien design nor any other known race’s. In addition to being some form of data storage device it emits a broad spectrum of energy patterns, some especially exotic.

We believe the core meltdown on the Raven was caused by a fair chain of events. Normally, TSN sensor systems are well-padded against interference from outside sources, not just for anti-EWAR purposes but also to prevent background radiation from overloading the sensor systems and flooding the output screen. However, Raven’s sensor systems had not been properly maintained as of late, and this managed to provide an opening for worse things to come. The exotic radiation patterns the device emitted were able to resonate through the exposed sensor systems, and this resonance fed back through the power flow into other systems. As this continued to amplify it eventually reached the engine section of the ship. Once this resonance reached the Denabite core it spiralled into a full core meltdown, leading to the ship’s destruction.

We do not believe the Denabite itself is in any way, shape or form to blame, since the power cores had just been exchanged with pure refined Denabite this shift. However the heightened energy levels the fleet was able to operate at would not have helped the situation much.

    MISSION PLANNING:
ONI has secured the unknown device and will be working to crack its contents in a secured environment. Until we secure this data the usual fleet operations will continue. Zolmar’s Faction will likely be in need of further assistance as their operations progress.

    TACTICAL RECOMMENDATIONS:
The loss of the Raven is a significant clamp on our capabilities. Affected crew will likely need to make due with a reserve craft for some time, as austerity measures continue to plague the TSN. Morale remains an important strong point and officers are reminded to keep a good face in front of Fleet News PULSE or other media outlets.

Engineers are reminded to conduct the proper maintenance on their vessels and avoid cutting corners.
Fleet officers are advised to keep up on heavy fleet engagement tactics as it is likely both the USF and Hegemony forces will be the main threat in coming operational cycles.
