OPERATIONAL DEBRIEFING FOLLOWS….
On stardate 1818-2237, 4LD chased down and eliminated the last kernel of significant force behind the recent USF insurgency in the area of Promethean Command. Their last ditch attempt to take over Volantis and regain the Promethean system was traced back to the Cronus system and quashed.

This freed the division up for an urgent Search and Rescue mission into Waypoint 89. Contact had been lost with science vessel TSN Aurora and her escorts. They were carrying the USFP’s principal researcher into Jump Gate theory and phenomena: Eamon McLinley. The division’s discovery of of the wreckage of a pirate ship, the escort and Aurora’s black box, escalated the effort to the highest levels of the TSN due to McLinley’s strategic importance to both civil and military traffic.

Additional resources were deployed on 1518-2237 to investigate suggestions from the black box that Aurora had been deliberately targeted for capture by Skaraans and that the raiders had exited Waypoint 89 through neither of the known gates. 4LD sought and found a previously unknown stable gateway to the Holtair system in Hegemony territory. The division reconnoitred the far side of the gate seeking a Skaraan base. Running silently or within obscuring nebulae, they bypassed several Kralien bases and then assaulted a Skaraan asset. They obtained evidence of McLinley’s former presence there and subsequent transfer to a Kralien facility. 4LD pursued vigorously, expending considerable heavy ordnance, they were forced to retreat by rapidly increasing deployments of Skaraan and Kralien elements exchanging comms chatter implying that major Kralien forces were inbound to collect McLinley from a local Kralien stronghold.

With the updated Intel and a full resupply, the division make a fast and determined strike on the Kralien facility. Major Johnson personally led three platoons in a disciplined search and retrieval of the target station. Sgt. Rock and Lt. Exler were mentioned in despatches for their role in the liberation of the USFP asset. Professor McLinley is expected to make a full recovery.

CURRENT DIVISION INTELLIGENCE:
No further sign of USF resurgence. Very low likelihood of tracing Vice-Admiral Mundy.
New gate discovered between Waypoint 89 and Holtair. Kraliens very interested in Gate technology, to the point of paying Skaraans to kidnap a leading USFP scientist.
Relations with Hjorden normalizing rapidly after the dissolution of USF control of the border.

MISSION PLANNING:
Whether Holtair or Hjorden, long range manoeuvres seem likely for the division.

TACTICAL RECOMMENDATIONS:
Reliability and endurance will be at a premium. All crews should ensure maintenance schedules exceed minimum requirements as much as possible and shipboard inventories are maximized and rigorously quality controlled. Xenology and Astrogation from first principles should be revised.
